In a significant breakthrough, the Kurukshetra District Police have successfully cracked a high-profile armed robbery case involving the looting of a trader's car at gunpoint. The police have arrested all five accused persons and recovered a substantial sum of ₹63.96 lakh in cash, the robbed vehicle, another car used in the crime, and illegal weapons.
Swift Action Leads to Arrests
Acting on the directives of SP Kurukshetra Nitish Aggarwal, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-I team took charge of the investigation. Their sustained efforts led to the identification and arrest of the five individuals involved. The arrested accused have been named as Sandeep, Suraj alias Sonu, and Ashok Kumar from Shimli village, along with Sachin and Pradeep Kumar from Madina village in Rohtak district.
Following their arrest, the accused were presented before a competent court. The court ordered that Sandeep, Suraj, and Ashok Kumar be sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile, Sachin and Pradeep Kumar have been remanded to three days of police custody for further interrogation.
Details of the Daring Robbery
The incident, as reported by the police, occurred on December 24, 2025. The complainant, Sagar Shah, a jeweller and resident of Rohtak, stated that his driver and an employee were returning to Rohtak from Shahabad via NH 152-D in his car. Upon reaching near Talheri village, two cars carrying unidentified youths intercepted them.
As the driver stepped out, the assailants pointed a pistol at him, assaulted him, and proceeded to loot all valuable items and cash from the vehicle. They also snatched the driver's mobile phone and threw it away. The robbers then forcibly took the car keys and fled the spot with the trader's car.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the Ismailabad police station, and the investigation was promptly transferred to the CIA-I unit for specialized handling.
Investigation and Recovery
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of CIA-I in-charge Inspector Surender Kumar. A dedicated police team, including ASI Randeep Singh, ASI Pravesh Kumar, ASI Kuldeep, ESI Ishwar, Head Constable Pradeep Kumar, and Constable Satbir, among others, conducted rigorous technical and ground investigations which led to the swift cracking of the case.
During the operation, the police successfully recovered:
- The robbed car belonging to the jeweller.
- ₹63.96 lakh in cash that was looted.
- The additional vehicle used by the accused to execute the crime.
- The illegal weapons, including a pistol, used in the armed robbery.
The Kurukshetra Police have stated that further investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to determine the accused's potential involvement in other criminal activities and to recover any remaining proceeds from the crime.
