Kanpur Horror: Tobacco Baron's Son in Lamborghini Mows Down Pedestrians, Injures Six
A shocking incident unfolded on Sunday in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, when a high-speed Lamborghini, allegedly driven by the son of a prominent tobacco trader, rammed into pedestrians and two-wheelers, leaving at least six people injured. The luxury car accident occurred on the VIP Road in the upscale Gwaltoli area, triggering widespread panic and public anger.
Details of the Terrifying Accident
Police identified the accused as Shivam Mishra, the son of businessman KK Mishra, who runs Banshidhar Exports Pvt Ltd, a firm supplying tobacco to gutkha manufacturers. According to DCP (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava, the accident happened around 3:15 pm near Rev-3 Mall when the Lamborghini went out of control.
The vehicle first struck an auto-rickshaw before crashing into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle. Eyewitnesses reported that the motorcycle rider was flung nearly 10 feet into the air due to the impact. The car then mounted the motorcycle's front wheel, dragging it for some distance before hitting an electric pole and coming to a halt.
Injuries and Immediate Aftermath
One of the injured, Taufiq, a resident of Yamunaganj, was thrown several metres and suffered serious leg injuries. Others sustained fractures and bruises in the violent collision. Angry locals quickly gathered at the spot, surrounding the car and forcing the driver to remain inside.
Witnesses alleged that private bouncers accompanying the accused tried to push back the crowd and behaved aggressively, escalating tensions at the scene. Police rushed to the location, rescued the driver, and shifted him along with the injured to a private hospital for treatment.
Chaos and Allegations of Influence
A chaotic situation later developed at the police station as victims and local residents accused the accused's associates of misbehavior. Protesters claimed that police were going soft on Shivam Mishra due to his family's influence in the region.
Some protesters alleged pressure was being exerted for a compromise and that there was a deliberate delay in registering a formal case. Sonu Tripathi, one of the injured, told media that he and his cousin were standing near their parked motorcycle when the car hit them. "My cousin was thrown off the bike, and two others were flung onto the footpath. We have filed a complaint," he stated.
Police Response and Investigation
DCP Srivastava confirmed that the damaged Lamborghini has been seized and taken to the police station. "The injured were provided primary treatment. An FIR will be registered, and further legal action will follow," he assured. The police are investigating the incident based on eyewitness accounts and the formal complaint filed by the victims.
Eyewitness Satyendra Singh Chandel provided additional details to ANI, saying, "A luxury car hit some people yesterday at the VIP Road. I heard that some bouncers of the luxury car driver broke the window and pulled the driver of the car. They took him away in another car." This account adds to the growing concerns about the handling of the case and the behavior of the accused's security personnel.
