Lawyers abstain from work after Jagriti Shukla's death

Rajesh Kumar Pandey/TNN Prayagraj: Aggrieved over the demise of Jagriti Shukla, the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) abstained from judicial work on Monday after lunch. The high court bar association demanded stern action against those doctors and staff of Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj who had allegedly manhandled the attendants of Jagriti Shukla, who first visited the SRN hospital after her accident on May 20.

The HCBA sent a copy of the resolution to the chief justice and also to the senior vacation judge of the Allahabad High Court. The advocates’ association of the Allahabad High Court, a parallel body of the bar, has also condoled the sad demise of the lawyer and demanded stern action against those responsible.

Meanwhile, a section of lawyers sat on dharna near Ambedkar crossing near the high court and demanded that the names of those doctors who were reportedly suspended after this incident be made public. The lawyers said they would not end their agitation until appropriate legal action is taken.
