21-Year-Old Arrested for Bludgeoning Man to Death with Iron Rod in Lucknow
Lucknow: Man bludgeoned to death in Para, accused arrested

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the Para locality of Lucknow, police have arrested a 21-year-old man for the brutal murder of a 30-year-old resident. The accused allegedly dragged the victim from his home in the dead of night and bludgeoned him to death with an iron rod, an act witnessed by the victim's terrified wife.

Grisly Details of the Late-Night Attack

The horrific crime unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, around 2 am, in the Purveedin Kheda locality. According to police officials, the accused, identified as Satish, a resident of Para, arrived at the house of Shiv Prakash. He reportedly kicked the gate and began shouting abuses, prompting Shiv Prakash to open the door.

In her statement to the police, the victim's wife, Savita, recounted the terrifying sequence of events. She stated that Satish forcibly dragged her husband out onto the street and launched a vicious assault, repeatedly striking him with an iron rod. "He kept hitting my husband until he collapsed. When I tried to save him, he struck me on the head as well," Savita alleged. Neighbours, alerted by the commotion, rushed to the spot and arranged for Shiv Prakash to be taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Motive and Conflicting Allegations

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Vishwajeet Srivastava confirmed that forensic evidence, including blood samples, was collected from the crime scene, which showed clear signs of a violent struggle. During interrogation, Satish allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed a critical motive. Police stated that he was in a relationship with the victim's wife, Savita, and that Shiv Prakash had recently discovered the affair and opposed it, leading to frequent disputes.

"Preliminary interrogation suggests that the accused bore a grudge against the victim as he opposed the relationship. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether anyone else was involved," a senior police officer said. However, the case took a complex turn with the complaint filed by the victim's father, Shivdin. He alleged a conspiracy, implicating his daughter-in-law Savita, her sister Kavita, and Satish in plotting his son's murder. He also claimed that Satish had attempted to kill Shiv Prakash earlier, on July 20.

Investigation Progress and Police Findings

The police investigation has since provided clarity on some allegations while leaving others unresolved. Authorities have given a clean chit to Savita's sister, Kavita, stating that no evidence has surfaced so far to establish her role in the murder. Savita herself has denied any involvement in a conspiracy. She claimed that Satish had been harassing her for a long time and that cases for trespassing and assault were previously registered against him.

The tragic event has left a family shattered. Shiv Prakash and Savita had a love marriage 11 years ago and are parents to two sons, aged 10 and 7. The police have booked the primary accused, Satish, for murder, and he remains in custody as the investigation continues to piece together the full narrative of this brutal crime in Lucknow's Para area.
