Ludhiana Brothers Brutally Attacked in Sarinh Village, One Suffers Partially Severed Ear

A horrific incident unfolded in Sarinh village, Ludhiana, on Sunday evening, where two brothers were subjected to a brutal assault by a group of assailants. The attack resulted in severe injuries, including a partially severed ear for one victim and a fractured arm for the other, highlighting a disturbing pattern of violence in the area.

Details of the Violent Assault

The victims, identified as Harjit Singh and his brother Harpal Singh, were attacked around 7:30 PM. According to Harjit Singh, the complainant, the assailants first targeted Harpal outside their residence. When Harjit intervened to rescue his brother, both managed to retreat inside their home, seeking safety from the initial onslaught.

However, the situation escalated dangerously when the attackers returned, armed with weapons, and forcibly entered the house. They launched a violent assault on the brothers, causing grievous injuries. Harjit Singh reported that one of the accused struck him with a kirpan, resulting in the partial severing of his left ear and injuries to his right arm. Meanwhile, Harpal Singh sustained a fractured arm after enduring repeated blows during the attack.

Background and Alleged Motive

This is not the first time the brothers have faced violence from this group. Harjit Singh revealed that the same assailants had attacked Harpal during Diwali last year, leading to a police case being filed at that time. He alleged that Sunday's brutal assault was a deliberate attempt to intimidate and pressure them into withdrawing the previous case, suggesting a calculated effort to obstruct justice.

The brothers are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital, where they are receiving medical care for their injuries. The severity of the attack has raised concerns about safety and law enforcement in the region.

Police Response and Legal Action

ASI Jarnail Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that police have taken swift action by booking the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused individuals, all residents of Sarinh village, are:

  • Shamshere Singh
  • Makhan Singh
  • Amrik Singh
  • Kala Singh
  • Jatinder Singh
  • Harjapreet Singh

They have been charged under Sections 115(2), 118(1), 333, 191(3), and 190 of the BNS, which cover offenses related to assault, obstruction of justice, and causing grievous hurt. Despite the charges, the accused remain at large, as they have not been arrested yet. Authorities are actively pursuing the investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of the victims.

This incident underscores the need for heightened vigilance and effective policing in rural areas to prevent such brutal attacks and protect citizens from harm.
