Ludhiana Police Launch Major Manhunt Following Brutal Forced Castration Attack
Police authorities in Ludhiana have initiated an intensive manhunt for a prominent local transgender leader and nine associates in connection with a horrific case involving the abduction and forced castration of a 30-year-old cook. This brutal attack, which has shocked the community, is allegedly rooted in a bitter territorial dispute between rival transgender factions operating within the city.
Victim Found Mutilated After Four-Day Ordeal
The victim, identified as Manpreet Singh from Jalandhar, was discovered abandoned and severely mutilated on a roadside this Tuesday. This grim discovery came four agonizing days after he was first reported missing by concerned parties. According to official police reports, Manpreet Singh had been employed as a cook for a transgender group led by Reshma Mahant. His disappearance traces back to the morning of January 24, when he left for a walk in Ludhiana's Khwaja Kothi Chowk area and never returned.
An acquaintance of the victim, Vidhyarti Rao, provided crucial information to investigators. Rao revealed that the desperate search for Manpreet Singh concluded when an anonymous caller notified authorities that the victim had been admitted to Ludhiana's civil hospital in critical condition. "Manpreet told me that the accused and his aides abducted him, mutilated him, and dumped him on the roadside," Rao stated in his formal complaint, painting a harrowing picture of the events.
Investigation Points to Factional Rivalry as Motive
Investigating officers believe the primary motive behind this heinous crime stems from a long-standing and intense rivalry between Reshma Mahant's group and a competing faction led by Rabina Mahant. The two groups have reportedly been engaged in conflict over "area distribution"—the informal division of neighbourhood territories where transgender communities traditionally collect alms and perform at various ceremonies and events.
"We have registered a case based on the initial complaint, but the victim's condition remains critical," explained Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarjeet Singh. "Due to the severity of his injuries, he has been referred to a specialized hospital in Chandigarh for advanced medical care. Our priority is his recovery."
Charges Filed and Suspects Identified
Police have officially registered a case against Rabina Mahant and nine other individuals, who have been identified as:
- Suhana
- Sona
- Simmi
- Kanika
- Rehmat
- Shiv Kumar
- Dilawar
- Hifazat
- Pooja
The suspects face serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
- Section 118 (1) & (2) – causing grievous hurt voluntarily by dangerous weapons
- Section 61 (2) – criminal conspiracy
