Ludhiana Showroom Shooting: Police Arrest Key Accused for Sheltering Gunmen

In a significant development in the Ludhiana luxury car showroom shooting case, the police have arrested an additional accused for allegedly providing shelter to the motorcycle-borne gunmen involved in the brazen daylight attack. The incident, which occurred over a month and a half ago near Baddowal, has seen ongoing investigations leading to this latest apprehension.

Arrest and Identification of the Accused

The arrested individual has been identified as Kulwinder Singh Kinda, a resident of Threekewal in Amritsar. He was apprehended in the Tarn Taran area by authorities. ASI Gurmeet Singh of the Dakha police station confirmed the arrest, stating that Kulwinder is currently being questioned for his role in harboring the shooters. The police aim to uncover further evidence and identify any additional accomplices through this interrogation.

Details of the Shooting Incident

The attack took place on the morning of January 10 at 10:30 am near ITB Chowk in the Mullanpur area of Ludhiana. According to witnesses and CCTV footage, two assailants arrived on a motorcycle with blackened registration plates to avoid detection. After making a U-turn from the wrong side of the road, one gunman dismounted and opened fire using weapons in both hands. Approximately five to six rounds were discharged, shattering the showroom's windows and striking the windshields of a Mercedes and a Range Rover parked outside.

Following the attack, the assailants dropped chits bearing the names of two known gangsters, Pawan Shokeen and Mohabbat Randhawa. The police subsequently registered a case against several individuals, including these named gangsters, linking the incident to organized crime activities.

Background and Previous Arrests

Prior to Kulwinder's arrest, the police had brought Narinder Dhir of SBS Nagar into custody on a production warrant. Dhir was arrested by Jalandhar police in an encounter and has reportedly confessed to carrying out the firing. He stated that the attack was executed under the directions of gangsters Pawan Shokeen and Gurdeep Flahi. The motive behind the shooting was allegedly part of a Rs 2 crore extortion bid and an attempt to gain "fame" for their gang.

However, Dhir's co-accused, Abhishek (alias Janu) of SAS Nagar, remains at large. Police sources indicate that raids are currently underway to locate Janu, and his arrest is expected to lead to further disclosures regarding the involvement of others in the conspiracy.

Investigation and Ongoing Efforts

The investigation into this case has revealed a complex web of gang rivalry and criminal intent. Authorities are focusing on unraveling the full extent of the conspiracy, with the arrest of Kulwinder Singh Kinda marking a crucial step. The police are also examining the broader connections to gang activities in the region, emphasizing the seriousness of the extortion attempt and the violent methods employed.

As the probe continues, the Ludhiana police are committed to ensuring all perpetrators are brought to justice, highlighting their efforts to combat organized crime and maintain public safety in the area.
