The accused, identified as Kannan from Sivaganga district, was intercepted by an immigration officer at approximately 7:45 PM while he was attempting to board a flight destined for Dubai. He was traveling on an employment visa at the time of the incident. Suspicion was initially raised during a routine document verification process when officials noticed inconsistencies in his travel history, prompting further scrutiny.
Admission of Fraudulent Alteration
During subsequent questioning, Kannan reportedly confessed to the authorities that his actual year of birth is 1972, which is accurately reflected in three earlier passports he had previously held. Fearing that his age would negatively impact his employment opportunities in Dubai, he allegedly took deliberate steps to alter his personal details. Specifically, he changed his date of birth to April 7, 1982, on his Aadhaar card and then utilized this forged document to secure a fresh passport in February 2023.
