Teenager Assaulted During Festival Celebration

Police in Chatra district have made a significant arrest in a disturbing sexual assault case that occurred during the recent Chhath puja celebrations. A 23-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl on October 28.

Festival Gathering Turns Tragic

The incident unfolded when the young survivor visited her friend's residence to participate in Chhath puja festivities. According to investigating officers, the girl, who hails from Hazaribag, had traveled to her friend's home specifically to celebrate the important festival.

The accused individual was identified as a relative of the survivor's friend and was present at the same location during the celebrations. Police officials stated that the man exploited the situation and sexually assaulted the teenager within the house where the puja was being conducted.

Delayed Reporting Leads to Monday Arrest

Initially, the traumatized victim did not disclose the assault to anyone immediately following the incident. It was only later, when family members became aware of what had transpired, that they took formal action.

The family filed a First Information Report (FIR) with local authorities, triggering a police investigation that ultimately resulted in the identification and apprehension of the suspect. The arrest was completed on Monday, nearly three weeks after the October 28 incident.

Chatra police have confirmed all essential details of the case while emphasizing their commitment to ensuring justice for the minor victim. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to build a comprehensive case against the accused.
