Upon arrival, officers found the caller present at the scene. However, during their inquiry, they discovered that no such incident of gunfire had occurred. The investigation revealed that the false complaint was made following a verbal spat with a neighbor, indicating a personal motive behind the misleading report.
Arrest and Legal Action Under BNS Section 217
Following a thorough inquiry, the man, identified as Pradeep, was arrested on Friday. Police officials stated that he knowingly provided false information to the emergency service, resulting in the unnecessary deployment of police personnel and the misuse of government resources. Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar confirmed that legal action has been initiated against Pradeep under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). "We receive scores of calls at the police control room or on Dial 112 every day, and many of them turn out to be false.
