In a brazen daylight heist, six masked armed robbers stormed a jewellery shop in Bihar's Saran district on Sunday, making off with gold and silver ornaments valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh. The terrifying incident unfolded at Mohammadpur Bazar within the jurisdiction of the Manjhi police station, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Dramatic Robbery Captured on CCTV
The entire robbery operation was meticulously captured by surveillance cameras, providing crucial evidence for investigators. According to police reports, the criminals arrived at the scene on two motorcycles, their faces concealed to avoid identification. Armed with firearms, they quickly overpowered both the shopowner and customers present at the time, threatening to shoot anyone who dared to intervene.
CCTV footage reveals the precise coordination of the criminal team, with three robbers entering the shop premises while two others maintained watch outside. A sixth accomplice remained stationed near a motorcycle, presumably serving as a lookout and getaway coordinator. The robbers systematically looted the jewellery shop, filling bags with valuable ornaments before making their escape.
Gunfire Creates Panic in Market Area
As the robbers fled the scene, they fired multiple shots into the air, deliberately creating panic and chaos throughout the market area. This tactical move served to discourage pursuit and allowed them to escape more easily amid the resulting confusion.
Shop operator Brij Bihari Gupta recounted the traumatic experience: "I was attending to customers and showing them jewellery items when suddenly six criminals approached from the northern direction. They carried out the robbery at gunpoint, threatening everyone present. The gunshots they fired to spread terror created absolute chaos in our market."
Police Investigation Underway
Police teams responded promptly to the incident, arriving at the crime scene to begin their investigation. Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajkumar confirmed that authorities are actively working to identify the perpetrators using the detailed CCTV footage obtained from the shop's surveillance system.
"Our investigation is progressing based on the CCTV evidence," stated SDPO Rajkumar. "After completing the robbery, all the criminals fled toward the northern direction while continuing to fire shots. We have launched extensive raids across the area with the objective of apprehending these dangerous individuals as quickly as possible."
The police have intensified their search operations, focusing on the northern escape route taken by the robbers. Investigators are examining the CCTV footage frame by frame to identify distinguishing features of the criminals and their motorcycles, hoping these clues will lead to their swift capture.
