Mathura Police Arrest Man for Alleged Murder of Security Guard Over Illicit Relationship
In a shocking case from Mathura, police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly strangling a security guard to death over an illicit relationship and dumping the body in the Yamuna river. The incident, which has sent ripples through the local community, was confirmed by officials on Wednesday.
Discovery of the Victim and Initial Investigation
The victim, identified as Randhir Singh, a 45-year-old resident of the area, was found in the Yamuna river on January 25. This discovery came just two days after his son reported him missing at the Jamunapar police station. According to police reports, Singh had left his home earlier and failed to return, prompting the family to file the missing person report.
Following a swift investigation, police arrested Sonu Singh, 30, a resident of Uma Vatika in Mathura's Jamunapar area, on the night of January 26. From his possession, authorities recovered crucial evidence, including a power cable allegedly used to strangle the victim and a numberless scooter that was reportedly used to dispose of the body.
Motive Behind the Gruesome Crime
Police investigations revealed a disturbing motive behind the murder. Randhir Singh was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with the accused's mother, which had come to the notice of Sonu and his father. During questioning, police claimed that Sonu's mother informed the family that Randhir had been visiting their house forcibly, leading to escalating tension and repeated arguments.
According to police statements, the family then allegedly decided to eliminate Randhir. Videsh Kumar, SHO of Jamunapar police station, provided details: "As per the investigation, on January 18, Sonu called Randhir to Uma Vatika, where they consumed alcohol together. Later, Sonu, along with his parents, strangled Randhir using an electric wire, killing him on the spot."
Execution of the Crime and Attempt to Destroy Evidence
Police further stated that Sonu's mother was present during the incident and actively assisted in the crime. After killing Randhir, the accused allegedly borrowed a scooter from a neighbor, packed the body in a sack, and dumped it into the Yamuna river in a calculated attempt to destroy evidence and evade detection.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
A case has been filed against the accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
- Section 140(1) for kidnapping
- Section 103(1) for murder
- Section 238 for causing disappearance of evidence
Police confirmed that further legal action is underway, with efforts being made to take action against other accused individuals involved in the case. The investigation continues to unfold as authorities piece together the full sequence of events.
