According to police reports, Chandralekha and her husband, M Sellapandian, 26, from Manaparai in Trichy district, had married a few years ago after a love affair. On Saturday, Chandralekha arrived at her grandmother's house in Kottamedu village with her infant daughter. During her stay, she engaged in a heated argument with her husband over the phone, reportedly concerning trivial matters. In a fit of rage and despair, Chandralekha took her baby to a nearby farmland. There, in a tragic turn of events, she threw the seven-month-old girl into a well and subsequently jumped in herself, intending to end her life.
