The commemorative program is dedicated to honoring the ultimate sacrifice made by Officer Verma, who laid down his life in the line of duty. In 1991, he was martyred while courageously confronting Khalistani terrorists who had carried out a bank robbery at the Bank of India branch in Hirapur, Dhanbad. Displaying exceptional bravery, Verma engaged the terrorists in a fierce encounter. Reports confirm that he managed to neutralize two terrorists using his service pistol before succumbing to his injuries and attaining martyrdom.
