In a shocking incident in Nagpur, the Lakadganj police have arrested two youths for deliberately ramming a scooter into an on-duty traffic constable, leaving him severely injured during routine vehicle inspections on Tuesday, which coincided with Dhulivandan celebrations. The event unfolded around 6:10 PM at Chandrashekhar Azad chowk, where a police team, led by complainant Pradeep Shrirao, was conducting standard vehicle checks to ensure traffic compliance. A Hero Maestro scooter, carrying the two accused, approached the checkpoint at a dangerously high speed. In a reckless attempt to evade the inspections, the riders swerved violently, directly striking constable Sanjay Gite with significant force.
The impact caused constable Gite to fall to the ground, resulting in serious injuries to his head, hands, and legs. Following the collision, the scooter also hit a road divider, but the youths tried to flee the scene immediately. However, they were swiftly pursued and apprehended by the vigilant police team, preventing their escape and ensuring they faced legal consequences.
Arrests and Identifications
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rupesh Uike, aged 23, and Gaurav Chavan, aged 21, both residents of the Nandanvan slum area in Nagpur.
