Navi Mumbai Police Achieves 80% Crime Detection Rate in 2025
In a significant development for law enforcement in the region, the Navi Mumbai police have reported a crime detection rate of 80% for the year 2025. This marks a marginal increase of 3% compared to the 77% detection rate recorded in 2024, showcasing steady progress in investigative efficiency.
Conviction Rates Show Gradual Improvement
Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe highlighted that the conviction rate has been on an upward trajectory over the past three years. It rose from 36% in 2023 to 44% in 2024 and further to 46% in 2025, indicating enhanced effectiveness in securing convictions and delivering justice.
Detailed Crime Statistics for 2025
In 2025, a total of 7,835 criminal cases were registered, with 6,276 cases successfully detected to achieve the 80% rate. Comparatively, in 2024, 7,369 cases were registered, and 5,678 were detected, resulting in the 77% detection rate. Notably, crimes against women saw an exceptionally high detection rate of 99% in 2025, with 748 cases registered and 739 detected, up from 98% in 2024 when 626 cases were registered and 616 detected.
Cyber Crime Detection Doubles
Commissioner Bharambe emphasized a remarkable improvement in cyber crime detection, which surged from 18.11% in 2024 to 37.56% in 2025. He credited the cyber crime cell for their meticulous investigations. In 2025, 362 cyber crime cases were registered, with 136 detected, involving total fraud amounts of Rs 124.22 crores. Authorities froze Rs 7.93 crore in fraudsters' accounts and returned Rs 3.74 crores to victims. In 2024, 436 cases were registered with fraud totaling Rs 50.97 crores, of which Rs 41.32 crores was frozen and Rs 10.22 crores returned.
Drug Cases and Traffic Violations
While drug consumption cases increased from 372 in 2024 to 902 in 2025, possession cases declined sharply from 112 to 88, with seizures dropping from 314 kg worth Rs 33.68 crores to 215 kg worth Rs 63 crores, attributed to anti-narcotics operations. Traffic violations rose from 8,87,770 cases in 2024 to 9,80,806 in 2025, with bike riding without a helmet being the most common offence. E-challans were issued for 9,80,806 violations, recovering Rs 14.88 crores in fees, and CCTV monitoring led to 1.62 lakh cases.
Other Key Findings
Fatal road accidents decreased from 286 in 2024 to 267 in 2025. However, the detection rate for stolen property cases fell from 72% in 2024 to 54% in 2025, with stolen property worth Rs 48.99 crores in 2025 and recovery of Rs 18.30 crore, compared to Rs 47.49 crores stolen and Rs 24.03 crore recovered in 2024.
