Navi Mumbai: Raigad LCB Cracks 70-Year-Old Woman's Murder Case, Arrests Son-in-Law & 3 Aides
In a swift and decisive operation, the Raigad Local Crime Branch (LCB) team has successfully detected the murder case of a 70-year-old woman, leading to the arrest of her son-in-law and his three aides. The arrests were made on Saturday, within a mere 48 hours of registering an FIR at the Revdanda police station in Alibaug taluka on January 29.
Murder Motive Revealed as Robbery of Gold Ornaments
The police have confirmed that the primary motive behind the heinous crime was robbery, specifically targeting the victim's gold ornaments. According to PI Milind Khopade of the Raigad LCB, the investigation quickly pointed towards this motive after the discovery of the crime scene.
The victim has been identified as Manda Pramod Mhatre, a resident of Tekalkar village in Alibaug taluka, who was living alone at the time of the incident. Her husband found her dead at their home, prompting immediate police involvement.
Post-Mortem Report Confirms Strangulation as Cause of Death
A post-mortem examination was conducted, which revealed that the cause of death was strangulation. This finding, coupled with the fact that her gold ornaments were missing from the scene, strongly indicated that robbery was the driving force behind the murder.
Utilizing advanced technical expertise and investigative techniques, the LCB team zeroed in on the key suspect: the victim's son-in-law, Mahadev Dhobale, aged 25 and hailing from Pathardi in Ahilyanagar district. The investigation uncovered a family dispute as a potential factor, with Dhobale's estranged wife residing in Pune, adding complexity to the case.
Arrests Made and Accomplices Identified
Following the identification of Dhobale as the prime suspect, he was promptly arrested. During interrogation, Dhobale led the police to his three aides, who were also arrested from Pathardi on the same day. The arrested accomplices have been identified as:
- Ashok Bhosale, aged 19
- Ganesh Pandagale, aged 25
- Shubham Pawar, aged 23
Despite the successful arrests, the investigation is ongoing. The robbed gold ornaments belonging to the victim have not yet been recovered. The police plan to seek custody remand of the arrested accused after producing them before the court, aiming to recover the stolen items and gather further evidence.
This case highlights the efficiency of the Raigad LCB in solving serious crimes swiftly, demonstrating their commitment to justice and public safety in the region.
