Hyderabad Nurse Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Parents Over Marriage Opposition

In a shocking case that has sent ripples through Hyderabad, a 25-year-old nurse stands accused of murdering her own parents after they opposed her choice of an inter-caste marriage. The incident, which unfolded in Yacharam village of Vikarabad district, reveals a tragic tale of familial conflict taken to a horrifying extreme.

Initial Reports Mask Gruesome Reality

Vikarabad police first received information about the deaths on January 25, when relatives reported that 58-year-old N Dasaratham and his 54-year-old wife Lakshmi had passed away at their residence. The initial narrative suggested Dasaratham had died by suicide after consuming poison, with Lakshmi reportedly succumbing to shock following her husband's death.

However, police suspicions were immediately aroused during their inspection of the scene. The recovery of a blood-stained syringe prompted investigators to treat the case as one of suspicious death. An FIR was promptly registered, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigation Uncovers Chilling Details

As police questioned the couple's son and three daughters, inconsistencies in the statement of their youngest daughter, 25-year-old Surekha, raised serious doubts. Under sustained interrogation, Surekha eventually confessed to committing the murders on the night of January 24.

"Surekha works in a private hospital in Sangareddy district," explained Dharur circle inspector Ch Raghuramulu. "Without the knowledge of hospital authorities, she stole a drug used to relax the muscles of patients undergoing surgery in the operating theatre. An overdose of this drug can be fatal."

Methodical Execution of the Crime

Investigators revealed that Surekha had taken leave from work on the day of the offense and traveled to her parents' home in Vikarabad district. After dinner, she allegedly administered the stolen drug to her parents under the pretext of giving them medication to help them relax. Instead, she injected a life-threatening dose that proved fatal.

The forensic investigation later matched the serial number of the recovered medicine with hospital records, confirming it belonged to a batch available at the private hospital where Surekha was employed. This crucial evidence directly linked the accused to the crime.

Background and Aftermath

Dasaratham, the deceased father, was a farmer by profession. Police have given a clean chit to Surekha's boyfriend, stating that he was completely unaware of the crime. The accused nurse has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody as the investigation continues.

This case highlights several disturbing aspects:

  • The use of professional medical knowledge to commit murder
  • The extreme measures taken in response to inter-caste marriage opposition
  • The breach of hospital security protocols regarding controlled substances
  • The psychological factors that could drive such familial violence

The Vikarabad police investigation continues to uncover additional details about the circumstances leading to this tragic event, which has left the local community in shock and raised important questions about family dynamics, caste pressures, and professional ethics in the medical field.
