The police identified the arrested individuals as K Gyanrajan Mahakud, 22, from Balangir in Odisha, and G Chandan Barik, 27, from Subarnapur in Odisha. The victim was S Amit Nag, 26, also from Balangir, Odisha, who worked alongside the accused at the textile mill located in Semmandampalayam near Kunnathur.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Murder

During the altercation, Mahakud and Barik allegedly stabbed Amit with a liquor bottle, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. The police report indicates that the attack was brutal and unprovoked, stemming from the intoxication-fueled dispute.
"The duo later dragged the body to a toilet and left it there. However, a few employees spotted them dumping the body in the toilet and alerted us," stated an officer from the Kunnathur police station. This prompt alert by mill employees played a crucial role in the swift police response and subsequent arrests.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
Upon receiving the alert, police officials recovered the body from the toilet and transported it to Tirupur Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. A formal case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and the two accused have been remanded to judicial custody, pending further investigation and trial.
The incident highlights the dangers of alcohol-induced violence in workplace settings, particularly in industrial areas like Tirupur, known for its textile industry that employs many migrant workers. Authorities are emphasizing the need for better conflict resolution mechanisms and safety measures in such environments to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
