In a shocking development that has gripped the capital, Delhi Police has registered a case against the son and wife of prominent pan masala baron Kamal Kishore following the tragic suicide of their daughter-in-law. The incident occurred at the family's upscale residence in Vasant Vihar, southwest Delhi.
The Fateful Discovery
Deepti Chaurasia, 38, was found hanging inside a room of the Vasant Vihar residence on Tuesday afternoon. According to police officials, it was her husband Arpit who made the emergency PCR call after discovering her body around 12:30 pm.
The case took a significant turn when the victim's mother filed a formal complaint, leading to legal action against the husband and mother-in-law. DCP (South West) Amit Goel confirmed that a case under sections 108/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (equivalent to sections 306/34 IPC) has been registered at Vasant Vihar police station.
Family Reveals History of Abuse
The victim's brother, Rishabh, provided disturbing insights into his sister's marital life during interactions with media representatives. He disclosed that the family had brought Deepti back to their home last year after she complained about physical abuse and her husband's extramarital affairs.
"They took her back, promising to treat her like their own daughter," Rishabh stated, referring to the in-laws' assurances. However, the situation apparently deteriorated recently when Deepti again raised concerns about her husband's affairs.
In a heartbreaking revelation, Rishabh shared that he had spoken with his sister just two to three days before her death. During their conversation, she had been discussing admission procedures for her son, making the tragedy even more unexpected for the grieving family.
