Panchkula Police Launch Special Drive Against Illegal Court Parking
In response to reports of persistent roadside parking despite a new facility, Panchkula traffic police have commenced a targeted enforcement operation to eliminate illegal parking outside the district courts complex.
Proactive Enforcement with No-Parking Stickers
Police authorities have adopted a proactive strategy for vehicles found unattended in no-parking zones. Special "No-parking challan stickers" are being affixed to such cars, clearly indicating that an online challan has been issued. Vehicle owners are then required to contact the challan branch located in Sector 12 to resolve their fines.
Official Statement on Traffic Safety
DCP (crime & traffic) Manpreet Singh Sudan emphasized that illegal parking in sensitive areas like the court complex not only creates severe congestion but also impedes emergency vehicle movement. "Our objective is not merely to collect fines but to foster disciplined driving and enhance road safety. We will maintain a zero-tolerance policy against those obstructing public pathways," he stated firmly.
Initial Results and Future Plans
On the first day of the drive, Monday, police issued 26 challans to violators. Officials have announced that the enforcement campaign will be intensified in the coming days, with particular focus on Sector 1 and the city's major commercial markets.
Background: Parking Challenges at Court Complex
The district courts complex experiences heavy daily footfall, with hundreds of litigants, advocates, and court staff visiting regularly. Due to limited existing parking space, the district administration established an additional parking facility near the PWD rest house approximately two months ago, following requests from advocates.
However, officials report that many individuals continue to avoid using this new facility, opting instead for illegal roadside parking. Rakesh Sharma, president of the Panchkula district bar association, confirmed that efforts are underway to encourage greater utilization of the designated parking area.
The enforcement drive represents a concerted effort by Panchkula authorities to address traffic management issues and promote compliance with parking regulations in high-traffic zones.
