Major Police Crackdown During Night Domination Drive
In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, Panchkula police conducted an extensive night domination drive across the district, resulting in multiple seizures and arrests. The operation, supervised by senior police officials including DCP Srishti Gupta and several ACPs, led to the recovery of a stolen car, illegal liquor, weapons, and gambling materials.
Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Arrests
The police operation gained momentum when the Rider-6 team successfully chased down two car thieves who had stolen an Alto vehicle. After receiving information about the theft, all police units were put on high alert. The stolen car was spotted near Sector 6, but the suspects attempted to flee the scene.
Following a dramatic chase, both suspects were apprehended near Government Hospital in Sector 6. The stolen vehicle was immediately impounded, and the duo was taken to the Sector 1 police post for detailed questioning. A formal case regarding the stolen vehicle was subsequently registered at the Sector 7 police station.
Police authorities confirmed that they are investigating whether the arrested individuals have any previous criminal records that might connect them to other unsolved cases in the region.
Weapons and Illegal Liquor Seizures
In another significant development during the operation, detective staff arrested 24-year-old Anwar, alias Annu, a resident of Masjid Wala near New DLF road in Raka Bhagwanpur. During his apprehension, police recovered a country-made pistol from his possession.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Pinjore police station. Anwar was produced in court and remanded to one-day police custody for further interrogation to determine the source of the weapon and his potential involvement in other criminal activities.
The illegal liquor seizure constituted a major part of the operation, with police confiscating a total of 32 boxes of illicit alcohol. At the Jaloli Toll Plaza, a suspicious car attempted to speed through the police checkpoint but was successfully chased by Constable Krishan Kumar and Home Guard Kisan.
The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, but police discovered the car loaded with 30 boxes of illegal liquor. In a separate incident, the Sector 19 Crime Branch team caught Balkaur Singh of Indira Colony with two boxes of illicit liquor during routine night patrolling.
Traffic Violations and Gambling Arrests
Simultaneously, Panchkula traffic police launched an intensive drunk-driving crackdown that resulted in 65 challans being issued and eight vehicles being impounded. The comprehensive drive also led to two significant arrests in gambling cases.
A team from the Marranwala police post apprehended Shahit Ali from Verma Colony near the Baddi border, recovering Rs 2,350 in cash along with gambling materials. Similarly, Rajesh Kumar was arrested near a school on Nalagarh road in Pinjore with Rs 1,720 in cash and gambling tools.
Both individuals have been booked under the Gambling Act, and investigations are ongoing to uncover larger gambling networks operating in the area.
