Vijayawada: Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad has alleged that he received threatening phone calls from an unidentified individual claiming to be Malapati Bhaskar Reddy. According to the complaint lodged with the police, the caller used an international phone number and threatened the MLA and his family with dire consequences. The caller reportedly told Bode Prasad that he would not be allowed to move around safely and issued death threats while using abusive language.
Background of the Accused
The incident has sparked concern, particularly because Malapati Bhaskar Reddy was previously arrested for allegedly posting objectionable and abusive content on social media targeting several prominent leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh, and former Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana.
Continued Harassment Alleged
Bode Prasad informed police that after the earlier arrest, offensive posts continued to appear against him from a Facebook account allegedly linked to Bhaskar Reddy. He further alleged that the latest threatening call was part of a continued campaign of intimidation.
Formal Complaint Filed
Taking the matter seriously, Bode Prasad personally visited the Penamaluru Police Station and submitted a formal complaint. He urged the police to identify the caller and initiate strict legal action against those responsible for issuing threats. Police have begun examining the complaint, including details of the phone number used for the call. An investigation is under way to verify the allegations, trace the source of the threats, and determine whether further action is warranted under relevant provisions of law.
