Perambalur Police Crack Down on Fraudulent Trust, Arrest Three Accused
In a significant crackdown on financial fraud, the Perambalur district crime branch has apprehended three individuals for allegedly operating a counterfeit trust that swindled the public of approximately Rs 29.75 lakh. Details of the Fraudulent Operation
According to police reports, the fake entity, named the 'Vigilance Awareness Organizations Trust,' specifically targeted disadvantaged groups with deceptive schemes. The trust lured victims by offering training programs in candle and incense making, guaranteeing employment placements, arranging interest-free bank loans for widows, widowers, and disabled individuals, and providing various forms of financial aid. These offers were entirely fabricated, designed solely to extract money from unsuspecting citizens.

The case came to light when R Sathya, a 42-year-old resident of Perambalur, filed a formal complaint with the authorities. All three were presented before a magistrate court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody as the legal proceedings advance.
Ongoing Probe and Public Advisory
Police authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to identify and apprehend other individuals potentially involved in this widespread fraud. The crime branch is meticulously examining the trust's operations to uncover the full extent of the financial deception and ensure all perpetrators are held accountable.
In light of this incident, the Perambalur police have issued a stern advisory to the public.
