Swift Police Action Recovers Stolen Phones in Ujjain Train Theft Case

A coordinated effort by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) resulted in the rapid apprehension of a mobile phone thief in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The operation, which unfolded within hours of the crime being reported, led to the recovery of two high-value smartphones with an estimated worth of approximately Rs 47,000.

Details of the Train Theft Incident

According to SP Padma Vilochan Shukla, the victim, Yogesh Gautam, a resident of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, was traveling in the general coach of the Bhopal–Indore Express train on Friday. During the journey, Gautam fell asleep, and an unidentified individual allegedly stole his mobile phone. He discovered the theft just before the train arrived at Ujjain railway station and promptly filed a formal complaint at the GRP Police Station in Ujjain.

Upon receiving the complaint, authorities registered a case and initiated an immediate investigation. A special team from the GRP Ujjain was assembled to tackle the case with urgency.

Investigation and Arrest Process

The investigative team employed multiple strategies to track down the suspect. They meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the railway station and surrounding areas, activated their network of informers, and conducted interrogations of known offenders in the region.

Acting on a credible tip-off, the police team proceeded to the Maksi outer bridge area, where they detained a suspicious youth. During a thorough search, officers recovered two mobile phones from his possession. The accused was identified as Pinkesh, also known as Mukesh, a 22-year-old resident of Raisen.

The swift police action culminated in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of both mobile phones as evidence. This case highlights the effectiveness of joint operations between GRP and RPF in addressing crimes on railway premises.

The successful resolution of this theft within such a short timeframe demonstrates the commitment of railway police forces to passenger safety and property security. Authorities have emphasized the importance of vigilance among travelers and prompt reporting of incidents to enable quick response.
