The police team from Gorakhpur was returning after conducting a raid in Maharajganj when the vehicle met with the catastrophic crash. The sequence of events was harrowing: the SUV first climbed onto the divider before crashing violently into a tree. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the vehicle sustained extensive damage, as reported by police officials at the scene.
Casualties and Critical Injuries
The team involved in the accident comprised senior sub-inspector Ramesh Chandra Kushwaha, sub-inspectors Santosh Kumar and Geeta, along with two constables and a private driver. Tragically, sub-inspector Santosh Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment, marking a profound loss for the force.
Senior sub-inspector Kushwaha and woman sub-inspector Geeta are stated to be in critical condition, fighting for their lives in medical care. The driver, fortunately, is reported to be out of danger, while two other policemen sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Sub-inspector Santosh Kumar, who lost his life in this tragic accident, was a native of Sahsarawan village in Siwan district of Bihar. He was posted at Ramgarhtal police station in Gorakhpur, serving with dedication. Upon receiving the heartbreaking news about the incident, his family members immediately left for Gorakhpur to be by his side.
