Tragic Electrocution Claims Pregnant Mare's Life in Gurgaon Village

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Sidhrawali village of Gurgaon on Monday morning when a six-month pregnant mare was electrocuted after coming into contact with a roadside transformer. The animal died instantly at the scene, while its owner, a cart driver named Suresh, sustained serious injuries including a fracture in his right leg.

Morning Commute Turns Tragic

According to the First Information Report registered by police, the accident occurred around 9am as Suresh was traveling to work with his mare cart. As he approached a turn near the village roundabout, the mare accidentally touched the transformer and immediately collapsed. The white-colored mare was found lying dead near the transformer, with the cart still positioned on the road.

Emergency Response and Hospitalization

Police received information about the incident from an emergency response vehicle, prompting a team to rush to the location. Upon arrival, they discovered the tragic scene and immediately arranged for Suresh to be transported to a hospital for urgent medical treatment of his injuries.

Legal Action Under BNS Sections

Based on Suresh's complaint, post-mortem findings, and injury reports, police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita:

  • Section 125: Act endangering life or personal safety of others
  • Section 125A: Punishment for endangering human life
  • Section 325: Mischief by maiming animal

Financial Devastation for Cart Driver

In his formal complaint, Suresh revealed the devastating impact of this incident on his family. He explained that he depended entirely on the mare cart for his livelihood, and the loss of the animal combined with his injuries has plunged his family into severe financial distress. The pregnant mare represented not just transportation but their primary source of income.

Public Safety Concerns Raised

Suresh has specifically sought legal action against the electricity distribution company, citing significant public safety concerns regarding the transformer's placement and maintenance. This incident highlights broader issues of infrastructure safety in residential and rural areas where animals and humans frequently interact with electrical installations.

The tragic death of the pregnant mare and the serious injuries to her owner have raised important questions about electrical safety standards in Gurgaon's villages. As the investigation progresses, authorities will need to examine whether proper safety measures were in place around the transformer and what preventive actions can be taken to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
