Pune Businessman Abducted Over Sewing Machine Business Dispute, Two Suspects Detained

In a shocking incident in Pune, a 34-year-old businessman from Beed was abducted from his rented apartment in Lohegaon by a group of eight individuals, including a woman, over a financial dispute related to the sewing machine trade. The abduction occurred around 11:15 AM on Monday, with the perpetrators allegedly posing as police personnel from Ahilyanagar to gain access to the victim's flat.

Details of the Abduction and Release

According to Senior Inspector Manisha Patil of the Lohegaon police, the businessman had relocated to Pune approximately one month prior to the incident, following a dispute with the suspects. He was residing in a rented flat with friends who are employed in Pune. Despite his move, the suspects managed to trace his location.

The abductors arrived at the flat in a four-wheeler, threatening the businessman and forcibly taking him to Ahilyanagar. During the journey, they continuously threatened him and demanded an immediate payment of Rs70 lakh to settle the dispute, even though the original debt was reported to be Rs6 lakh. One of the accused was armed with a pistol, adding to the severity of the situation.

The businessman was released in Ahilyanagar on Tuesday afternoon. He subsequently approached the Lohegaon police in the evening to file a formal complaint, detailing his ordeal.

Police Investigation and Suspect Detentions

Inspector Patil stated that the police have detained two suspects from Ahilyanagar in connection with the case. The detention occurred on Wednesday evening, and the suspects are being brought to Pune for further questioning. A search operation is actively underway to locate and apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the abduction.

The investigation revealed that the suspects are also involved in the sewing machine business, operating in both Ahilyanagar and Beed districts. The dispute stemmed from the businessman owing Rs6 lakh to them, which escalated into the violent abduction.

Role of the Victim's Friends and Police Response

The victim's friends played a crucial role in alerting the authorities. After realizing that the individuals claiming to be police were impostors and that their friend was being taken against his will, they immediately approached the police. This prompt action helped initiate the investigation that led to the detentions.

The Lohegaon police are treating this case with high priority, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime involving impersonation of law enforcement and armed threats. The ongoing efforts aim to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
