Pune: Two Workers Arrested for Assaulting Colleague, Stabbing Friend Outside Hospital
In a shocking incident of workplace violence, two workers from a firm in Bhosari, Pune, were arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting their 22-year-old colleague and then attempting to stab his friend in front of a private hospital where the injured peer was admitted. The Pimpri Chinchwad police took swift action, apprehending the duo under serious charges of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police Action and Legal Charges
The authorities have invoked sections 109, which pertains to attempted murder, and 118, related to voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, of the BNS against the arrested individuals. An officer from the Bhosari police station provided details into the motive behind the violent altercation.
The officer explained that the accused harbored suspicions that the victim had complained about their work performance to the supervisor, leading to a deep-seated grudge. This resentment culminated in a premeditated attack late on January 31, as the victim and another colleague were returning home after completing their second shift.
Details of the Initial Assault
According to police reports, the two accused, along with an accomplice, intercepted the victim outside the company premises. They subjected him to verbal abuse and physical violence, pushing him to the ground. The fall resulted in significant head injuries for the victim, necessitating immediate medical attention.
The victim's colleague promptly took him to a private hospital located in Bhosari for treatment. During the journey, the victim managed to contact a friend and inform him about the brutal attack. Upon receiving the distressing news, the friend rushed towards the hospital to offer support and assistance.
Escalation Outside the Hospital
In a disturbing turn of events, the accused individuals followed the victim to the healthcare facility and waited outside on the road. When the victim's friend arrived and confronted them about the assault, a heated argument ensued. The situation quickly escalated, with the duo allegedly brandishing a knife and stabbing the friend in the stomach.
The officer further elaborated on the aftermath, stating that both injured individuals were initially taken to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) in Pimpri for emergency care. After receiving preliminary treatment, the complainant was discharged, while his friend required more extensive medical intervention and was subsequently admitted to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for further management.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the incident are actively ongoing. The police are working to gather additional evidence, identify the accomplice involved, and understand the full scope of the workplace dynamics that led to such extreme violence. This case highlights the severe consequences of unresolved conflicts in professional settings and underscores the importance of addressing grievances through proper channels.
The Pimpri Chinchwad police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining law and order in the region. Community members and local businesses are urged to report any similar incidents promptly to prevent such tragedies in the future.
