A violent altercation over feeding a stray dog turned deadly in Raipur on Monday night, resulting in the tragic death of a 35-year-old man. The victim, identified as Shiv Prasad Dhruv, a resident of Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh, succumbed to his injuries on the spot after being stabbed in the chest.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Fatal Confrontation
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Prashant Shukla, the incident unfolded at a local eatery when Dhruv, a crane operator by profession, arrived with two friends on a two-wheeler. Authorities reported that Dhruv was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The confrontation began when Dhruv picked up a food plate belonging to another diner named Pawan and used the contents to feed a stray dog. This action immediately sparked a heated argument between the two men.
Escalation of Violence and Fatal Outcome
During the initial dispute, a third individual named Sagar intervened to support Pawan. Following this first altercation, Dhruv temporarily left the premises with his companions but returned shortly afterward accompanied by three additional persons arriving on two motorcycles.
A second, more intense argument erupted between the two groups. In what police describe as a fit of rage, Sagar allegedly produced a vegetable knife and stabbed Dhruv directly in the chest. The weapon penetrated his heart, causing immediate fatal injuries. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the stabbing, leaving Dhruv dead at the location.
