Rajasthan Police SOG Intensifies Investigation into Fake Medical Certification Scam

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police has significantly expanded its investigation into an alleged widespread fake medical certification racket. This development follows the recent arrest of two medical graduates who hold overseas degrees. Both individuals are accused of utilizing forged Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) certificates to secure internships through the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC).

Scale of the Racket and Modus Operandi

Investigators have revealed that the fraudulent scheme may have benefited at least 73 candidates. All these candidates obtained their medical degrees from foreign institutions but failed to clear the mandatory FMGE screening test. This test is a legal prerequisite for practicing medicine in India. Sources within the SOG confirmed that these candidates submitted forged FMGE certificates to obtain internships under the RMC.

Preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of an organized network responsible for preparing, circulating, and monetizing these forged FMGE certificates. The network operated with a systematic approach to exploit loopholes in the certification process.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

The SOG announced the arrest of the alleged kingpins of this racket on Friday. The individuals arrested are Bhana Ram Mali, also known as Bhanu (30), and Indraraj Singh Gurjar (27). Additional Director General (ADG) of SOG, Vishal Bansal, stated that the agency is meticulously examining all documents and evidence to delve deeper into the racket.

Investigators are currently cross-verifying FMGE certificates submitted to the RMC by checking for identical layouts, serial number sequences, fonts, and seals. This forensic analysis aims to identify patterns and inconsistencies that point to forgery.

Digital Evidence and Future Steps

The SOG is also analyzing mobile phones, laptops, and email accounts seized from the two accused. Additionally, they are scrutinizing Telegram and WhatsApp groups that were allegedly used to identify and recruit candidates willing to pay for forged FMGE certificates. The objective, according to sources, is to zero in on digital templates of suspect FMGE certificates to trace the "production chain" behind the forgeries.

As the investigation expands, more arrests are likely in this case. The SOG is committed to uncovering the full extent of the racket and ensuring that all involved parties are brought to justice.
