Rajasthan Sailor Missing After Iranian Missile Strikes Oil Tanker Near Oman Amid Conflict
In a distressing development from the ongoing tensions in West Asia, a man from Nagaur district in Rajasthan has gone missing after an Iranian missile struck the oil tanker he was aboard near Oman. The incident, reported by his family, occurred amid the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, highlighting the human toll of regional hostilities.
Attack Details and Family's Account
According to family members, they received information that on the morning of March 1, an Iranian missile hit the vessel while it was stationed at Khasab Port, causing significant damage to the ship. The missing crew member, identified as Dalip Singh, is a resident of Khinwatana village in Nagaur. He had begun his duty on January 22, serving as a crew member on the tanker operated by Skylight Company.
At the time of the attack, Dalip was in the forward section of the ship with another crew member, Ashish Kumar, who hailed from Bihar. While Kumar's body has been recovered, Dalip remains untraceable, as confirmed by his brother Devendra Singh. Devendra further mentioned that the company informed them most crew members were evacuated safely during the attack, but Ashish and two others, including Dalip, have gone missing.
Background and Last Contact
Dalip last spoke to his family on February 28, just before the tragic incident. Additionally, another man from Nagaur district, Sunil Kumar, was also working on the same vessel. Devendra added that Dalip had taken over duty in the shift after Sunil completed his assignment, underscoring the routine nature of maritime work disrupted by conflict.
This case adds to the broader crisis in the region, where reports indicate 38 Indian ships are stuck in the Persian Gulf and three sailors have died due to safety risks. The United States has also ordered non-emergency staff in Pakistan to leave consulates in Karachi and Lahore, reflecting heightened tensions.
The family's plea for information and the ongoing search efforts highlight the urgent need for resolution in this volatile situation, as conflicts continue to impact innocent lives far from the political frontlines.
