Rajkot Electrician Arrested for Allegedly Raping Daughter and Niece Over Multiple Years
A shocking case of sexual exploitation has emerged from Upleta town in Rajkot district, where a 45-year-old electrician has been arrested for allegedly raping his own 19-year-old daughter for four years and sexually exploiting his 17-year-old niece since she was just 10 years old. The accused was taken into custody on Saturday after his daughter fled their home, unable to endure the continuous harassment any longer.
Harrowing Details of the Exploitation
According to police reports, the accused's daughter and niece used to sleep in the same room. "At night, when his own daughter would fall asleep, the accused would approach his niece, forcing her to watch pornographic videos and subsequently raping her. Over time, he also assaulted his biological daughter in a similar manner for four years," police stated. The victim's mother had left her eldest daughter in the care of the accused's family while she worked outside Gujarat, with the accused promising to treat her as "his own daughter."
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Police have registered separate offences of rape against the accused under sections 64(2)(F) and 64(2)(M) of the BNS, along with sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act. Investigation officer B R Patel confirmed, "The FSL team is assisting in the investigation, and the accused's mobile phone will also be sent for forensic examination. The 17-year-old girl was sent for medical examination." The accused was produced in court on Saturday for the offence involving his daughter and remanded to judicial custody, with police seeking custodial interrogation on Monday.
How the Case Unfolded
The alleged sexual exploitation came to light when the 19-year-old daughter escaped the house, tired of the ongoing abuse. After the accused filed a missing complaint, police traced the girl, who refused to return home and revealed the years of rape. When confronted, the father confessed to raping both his daughter and his niece. The niece has been sent to professional counsellors, where she narrated her ordeal.
