Rajkot SOG Arrests Notorious History-Sheeter in Early Morning Raid, Seizes Illegal Firearm

In a significant crackdown, the Rajkot Special Operations Group (SOG) apprehended a 30-year-old history-sheeter during the early hours of Sunday for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm and ammunition within the city limits. The operation, based on specific intelligence, underscores ongoing efforts to curb illicit arms trade and criminal activities in the region.

Accused Nabbed with Country-Made Pistol and Ammunition

The accused, identified as Haresh Jadav, also known as Bhuro Jadav, was arrested from the Vachhakpar area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Gandhigram police station. During the raid, law enforcement officials recovered a country-made pistol, three live cartridges, and one spent cartridge from his possession. The seized items have been valued at approximately Rs 45,300, highlighting the potential danger posed by such illegal weapons.

According to SOG officials, the team received credible information that Jadav was illegally keeping a firearm without a valid license. Acting swiftly on this tip, a team led by Police Sub-Inspector V K Zala conducted a targeted raid, leading to the detention of the accused. During subsequent interrogation, Jadav allegedly confessed to hiding the weapon in his two-wheeler parked outside his residence. A thorough search of the vehicle confirmed the recovery of the firearm and ammunition.

FIR Registered Under Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

Based on a formal complaint filed by Head Constable Siddhrajsinh Jadeja, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Haresh Jadav under the provisions of the Arms Act and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Preliminary investigations have revealed that Jadav has a lengthy criminal record, with nine cases already registered against him at the Kuwadva Road police station. These cases span various offences, including prohibition violations, assault, issuing death threats, and theft.

Police authorities have emphasized that further investigation is actively underway to trace the source of the weapon and determine whether it was utilized in any previous criminal activities. This arrest is part of a broader initiative to dismantle illegal arms networks and enhance public safety in Rajkot.

Separate Sexual Assault and Intimidation Complaint Filed Against the Accused

In a disturbing parallel development, a 38-year-old woman has lodged a separate complaint with the Gandhigram police station, accusing Haresh Jadav of sexual assault and criminal intimidation. According to the FIR, the complainant first came into contact with Jadav approximately five years ago, when he would often drop her home in a rickshaw, leading to an exchange of mobile numbers and continued communication.

The woman alleges that about three years ago, Jadav invited her to his house under the pretext of a birthday celebration. There, he allegedly made her consume a beverage and sexually assaulted her. Following this traumatic incident, the complainant stated that she severed all contact with the accused.

However, the situation escalated three days ago when Jadav allegedly arrived in a white car, brandished a pistol, threatened her, and physically assaulted her. He then purportedly took her to the house of an acquaintance in Indore, where he again made her consume a beverage and sexually assaulted her while she was in a semi-conscious state.

The complainant further detailed that the following day, Jadav dropped her near Bagodara and issued death threats against her and her family if she disclosed the incidents to anyone. This separate FIR adds a grave dimension to the case, highlighting multiple alleged criminal activities by the accused.

Authorities are now coordinating investigations between the illegal firearm possession case and the sexual assault allegations to build a comprehensive legal case against Haresh Jadav. The Rajkot police have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure justice and prevent further crimes by the accused.
