Ranchi District Administration Implements Comprehensive Security and Traffic Plan for Shivratri Celebrations
The district administration in Ranchi has announced a robust security and traffic management strategy for the upcoming Shivratri festivities scheduled for Sunday. Authorities will deploy security personnel at approximately 200 strategic locations across the city to maintain law and order during the vibrant celebrations.
Heavy Security Deployment at Key Religious Sites
In an official order issued earlier this week, the administration detailed that over 20 magistrates and 500 police officers will be stationed specifically around the prominent Pahari Mandir. A dedicated control room, to be led by Executive Magistrate Md Jafar Hasnat, will be established at the Pahari Mandir to coordinate security operations and monitor the situation in real-time.
Additionally, the Ranchi sub-divisional officer confirmed that significant security forces will also be positioned at the Sureshwar Dham Mandir located in the Chutia area. This multi-location deployment aims to safeguard the thousands of devotees expected to participate in the colorful Shiv Baraat processions that will traverse the city streets.
Extensive Traffic Restrictions and Diversions
Traffic movement throughout Ranchi will face severe restrictions on Sunday to facilitate the processions and ensure public safety. Traffic Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh has issued a comprehensive notification outlining the specific measures.
Barricades will be erected on several key roads leading to the Pahari Mandir, including:
- Shani Mandir-Pahari Mandir road
- Durga Mandir-Pahari Mandir road
- Meenakshi Gali-Pahari Mandir road
- Sukhdev Nagar road
- Areas near Balaji Mandir
- Roads from Guashala cutting to Pahari Mandir
- Roads from Sulabh Sauchalaya to Pahari Mandir
SP Singh emphasized that restrictions around the Pahari Mandir will be enforced starting at 2 AM on Sunday. Heavy vehicles approaching the area will be systematically diverted. Furthermore, the entry of all heavy vehicles into the city will be completely prohibited from 5 AM to 10 PM.
Specific Vehicle Management and Diversion Points
Heavy vehicles will be stopped at multiple checkpoints on the city's outskirts, including Boriya, Birsa Chowk, Kathal More, Piska More, ITI Bus Stand, Durga Soren Chowk, Kusai, Chandini Chowk, and Booty More.
For smaller vehicles, specific routes have been designated:
- Small vehicles arriving from Booty More and Boriya must travel via Karamtoli Chowk and Jail Chowk.
- Conversely, small vehicles coming from Jail Chowk can proceed towards Booty More by taking the route through Karamtoli Chowk and Bariatu.
The notification also states that vehicle movement in the Ratu area will be entirely barred during the Shiv Baraat procession. Access to Ratu Road, New Market, and Harmu Chowk will only be permitted after the conclusion of all religious rituals.
All vehicles heading towards the city center will be halted at Piska More for the duration of the procession. Vehicles arriving from Kathal More will be required to take a U-turn and proceed via Chaputoli. Similarly, vehicles coming from Tilta Toli must execute a U-turn at Piska More and then travel via Chaputoli.
This elaborate plan underscores the administration's commitment to ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and safe Shivratri celebration for all residents and devotees in Ranchi.
