A 42-year-old rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death in front of the court complex in Hassan city in the early hours of Monday. The deceased, identified as Manjesh Kumar, was a rowdy-sheeter at Talaghattapura police station in Bengaluru, according to Hassan district police.
Details of the Incident
According to Hassan Superintendent of Police Shubhanwitha, the murder occurred between 1am and 2am. The police helpline 112 received information about the crime around 2.30am, the IPS officer said. On visiting the spot, police found a person dead, whose identity was established through his identity card.
Background of the Victim
Kumar was externed to Chikkamagaluru from Bengaluru a month ago and was projecting like he was living in Chikkamagaluru by presenting himself at a local police station. He had visited the local police station on Sunday morning too. The reason for his visit to Hassan is yet to be ascertained. Mahesh was facing seven cases, including cases registered under the Arms Act.
Family and Investigation
Kumar was living with his family in Bengaluru while his mother hails from Hassan. Police said teams have been formed to locate the accused. Postmortem examination was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members. Hassan Extension police have begun investigating the murder. We are looking at the technical evidence, and accused will be nabbed soon, said an officer.
