RPF Constable's Heroic Act Prevents Railway Tragedy in Jaipur
A potentially fatal railway accident was narrowly avoided at Phulera Railway Station in the Jaipur division of North Western Railways on Thursday night, thanks to the swift and courageous actions of a Railway Protection Force constable.
The Perilous Incident Unfolds
The dramatic rescue occurred around 9:30 PM on platform number 3 as the Yoga Express train began departing from the station. According to official reports, a passenger had disembarked briefly to fill water at the station. While he was away from the train, it unexpectedly started moving.
In a desperate attempt to catch his departing train, the passenger sprinted toward the moving coach. Tragically, he lost his balance during this frantic effort and slipped into the dangerous gap between the platform edge and the railway tracks. This precarious situation placed him at immediate risk of being crushed by the moving train.
Immediate Rescue Response
Saroj Bhakar, a head constable with the Railway Protection Force stationed at Phulera, witnessed the unfolding emergency. Demonstrating exceptional presence of mind and quick reflexes, Constable Bhakar immediately rushed to the scene without hesitation.
She reached the endangered passenger just in time, grabbing him firmly and pulling him away from the lethal gap between the platform and tracks. Her timely intervention prevented what could have been a catastrophic accident.
Coordinated Safety Measures
Following the successful rescue, station staff and nearby passengers quickly mobilized to assist. Railway personnel immediately signaled the train manager to halt the moving train completely, ensuring no further danger to the rescued passenger or others on the platform.
After being pulled to safety, the visibly shaken passenger was carefully escorted back into his coach. Once all safety protocols were confirmed, the Yoga Express resumed its journey, with all passengers accounted for and secure.
Official Recognition and Praise
Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer for North Western Railways, commended Constable Bhakar's courageous actions. "The effort needs appreciation," Sudarshan stated. "We will recommend this act for an award as it was a brave effort for the passenger's safety."
This incident highlights several critical aspects of railway safety:
- The importance of passenger awareness when trains are departing
- The vital role of alert railway staff in preventing accidents
- The need for passengers to avoid boarding moving trains under any circumstances
- The value of proper training and preparedness among railway security personnel
The North Western Railways administration has emphasized that while this incident ended positively due to Constable Bhakar's intervention, passengers must exercise extreme caution around moving trains. Railway officials remind travelers that attempting to board or disembark from moving trains remains strictly prohibited and poses severe safety risks.
