Saharsa Police Crack Brutal Murder Case: Girlfriend's Brother Confesses to Crime

The Saharsa police in Bihar have made a significant breakthrough in solving the brutal murder of 26-year-old Rajesh Kumar, whose headless body was discovered near the Sursar River on February 11. In a shocking revelation, investigators have determined that the murder was meticulously planned and executed by the victim's girlfriend's brother, Birbal, who conspired with his friend Darshan to carry out the heinous crime.

Murder Plot Unfolds: Promise of Marriage Turns Deadly

According to detailed police statements, Rajesh Kumar, a migrant worker originally from Bengaluru, was lured back to Bihar under the false pretense of marrying his girlfriend. However, this romantic promise quickly turned into a deadly trap when the girlfriend's brother, Birbal, vehemently opposed the proposed marriage. Birbal's strong disapproval of the relationship led him to hatch a sinister plot to eliminate Rajesh permanently.

On the fateful day of February 11, Darshan, acting on Birbal's instructions, received Rajesh at the Saharsa railway station. Under the guise of taking him to meet his girlfriend, Darshan escorted Rajesh to a secluded location near the Sursar River, where Birbal and other accomplices were already waiting in ambush.

Brutal Execution and Investigation Breakthrough

The crime scene investigation revealed the horrific nature of the murder. The assailants first shot Rajesh in the chest, then proceeded to behead him in a particularly gruesome act of violence. The perpetrators then dumped the headless body in a nearby field and threw the severed head into the Sursar River in an attempt to conceal evidence and complicate identification.

The investigation team, led by Saharsa Superintendent of Police Himanshu and Simri Bakhtiyarpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mukesh Thakur, employed sophisticated investigative techniques to crack the case. A crucial breakthrough came when police analyzed Rajesh's cellphone call records, which provided vital leads that eventually directed investigators to his girlfriend. This connection subsequently led police to identify Birbal as the girlfriend's brother and Darshan as his accomplice.

Confession Reveals Motive and Planning

During intensive interrogation, Darshan confessed to his involvement in the murder and provided detailed information about the planning and execution of the crime. Darshan revealed that he and Birbal had worked together in a medical facility approximately ten years ago, and their longstanding friendship had facilitated the murder conspiracy.

"During interrogation, Darshan revealed that he and Birbal worked together in a medical facility about 10 years ago, and their friendship led to the planning of the murder," stated SDPO Mukesh Thakur. "He stated that Birbal instructed him to bring Rajesh to the secluded spot, where they would kill him."

Identification and Ongoing Manhunt

The police discovered Rajesh's headless body on February 11, but positive identification proved challenging until February 13, when the victim's uncle formally identified the remains. To aid in the identification process, the investigation team circulated Rajesh's photographs extensively on social media platforms, which eventually helped establish his identity and connect him to the crime.

"The police suspect that Birbal's motive for the murder was to prevent his sister from marrying Rajesh, as he disapproved of their relationship," added SDPO Thakur. "The investigation is going on, and authorities are working to apprehend Birbal and other suspects involved in the crime."

While Darshan has been apprehended and has confessed to his role in the murder, the primary suspect Birbal remains at large. Police authorities have intensified their efforts to locate and arrest Birbal, who is considered the mastermind behind this brutal crime. The investigation continues as authorities work to identify and apprehend any additional suspects who may have been involved in the planning or execution of the murder.
