A Class V student of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 3 in Jalandhar Cantonment died after being run over by an Army truck outside the school campus on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, Payal, a resident of the Sodal area, sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
Incident Details
According to eyewitnesses, Payal was waiting with her friends for the school bus after classes when an Army truck entered the area. The truck was reportedly taking a U-turn and struck the girl, causing severe injuries. She was declared dead at the scene.
Her father, Ashok Kumar, was immediately informed and rushed to the spot. A team from the Cantonment police station arrived and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Investigation Underway
Police officials have recorded statements from eyewitnesses and are examining the circumstances leading to the accident. The Army truck driver has been taken into custody for questioning, according to a police spokesperson.
Payal was a regular student who used the school bus daily. The tragic incident has left the school community and local residents in shock.
