Senior Citizen Stabbed and Robbed in Terrifying Mahisagar Home Invasion

In a shocking incident that has rattled the community, a 63-year-old man was brutally stabbed and robbed of substantial cash and jewellery during a home invasion in the early hours of Thursday. The terrifying episode unfolded in Bhanpur village, located in Mahisagar district, near Vadodara, according to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Lunawada police station.

Details of the Midnight Robbery

The robbery occurred precisely at 12:30 AM on Thursday, targeting the residence of Vinod Patel, a senior citizen aged 63. At the time of the incident, Vinod was asleep inside the house along with his elderly father, Manilal, and his wife, Madhu. The family members were sleeping on different floors, with Madhu on the upper floor and the father-son duo on the ground floor.

Around the midnight hour, Vinod was awakened by an unusual sound emanating from within the house. Cautiously peeping through the window of the room where he and his father were resting, he was horrified to spot four armed men standing in an adjacent room. The intruders forcefully broke into their room through a grille, demonstrating a brazen disregard for the safety and security of the household.

Violent Confrontation and Theft

The situation quickly escalated as the robbers took control. Both Vinod and his father were compelled to sit on a sofa, after which Vinod's mouth was sealed with tape. The assailants further used the tape to bind his hands and legs, rendering him helpless. With the family members subdued, the criminals proceeded to ransack the house.

They systematically opened cupboards and looted a significant amount of valuables. The stolen items included Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth approximately Rs 45,000, bringing the total estimated loss to a staggering Rs 1.95 lakh.

Stabbing and Escape

In a particularly cruel turn of events, the robbers demanded that Vinod assist them in gaining access to the neighbouring houses. When he failed to respond to their commands, one of the assailants viciously stabbed him in the leg with a screwdriver, inflicting a painful injury.

At this critical juncture, a sound was heard from the adjacent house, which belongs to Vinod's brother, Harindra. The noise seemingly alarmed the robbers, prompting them to flee the scene hastily, leaving behind a traumatized family and a ransacked home.

Aftermath and Police Investigation

Following the departure of the criminals, Vinod, with the assistance of his father, managed to free himself from the restraints. He immediately alerted his nephew, informing him about the harrowing robbery and the violent attack he had endured.

The Lunawada police station has registered an FIR and launched a thorough investigation into the incident. Authorities are examining the details to identify and apprehend the four armed individuals responsible for this heinous crime. The community remains on edge as law enforcement works to ensure such brazen acts of violence are swiftly addressed.
