Singer Files Police Complaint After Alleged Abduction Threat in Ahmedabad
A 22-year-old singer and artist, Dharmesh Chavda, has filed a formal police complaint alleging he was threatened with abduction and physical harm over a phone call received on Thursday night. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of performers in the region.
Details of the Threatening Call
According to the complaint registered with the Adalaj police on Friday, Chavda, a resident of Sughad, was preparing to leave for a cultural programme linked to a temple consecration event in Makakhangam, Mansa taluka. He was traveling with fellow performers, including Kajal Meheriya and others, when the incident occurred.
At approximately 9 PM, Chavda received a call on his mobile phone from an unknown number. The caller allegedly identified himself as Mohinkhan Pathan from Modhera, Mehsana. During the call, the individual used abusive language and explicitly threatened to attack and kill Chavda, creating a sense of immediate danger.
Immediate Response and Police Action
Chavda stated that he promptly ended the call and informed his colleague Kajal about the threatening incident before proceeding to the cultural programme as planned. Despite the alarming nature of the threat, he continued with his professional commitments.
Following the event, Chavda traveled to his native place in Patdi. He subsequently approached the Adalaj police station to report the matter formally. A case has been registered based on his complaint, and authorities are now investigating the allegations to identify the caller and ascertain the motives behind the threat.
This incident highlights the vulnerabilities faced by artists and performers, even during routine cultural engagements. The police have assured that they are taking the matter seriously and will pursue all leads to ensure the safety and security of individuals in the community.
