Six Absconding Suspects Apprehended in Perambalur Bomb Attack Investigation

In a significant development, six absconding suspects were arrested on Saturday in connection with the Perambalur bomb attack, which left two policemen injured on January 24. With these latest apprehensions, the total number of individuals taken into custody has now reached 15, marking a crucial step forward in the ongoing investigation.

Details of the Perambalur Bomb Attack Incident

The incident occurred last month when a gang hurled country-made bombs at history-sheeter ‘Vellai' Kali, also known as S Kalimuthu, near Thirumanthurai in Perambalur district. At the time, Kalimuthu was being escorted by police from Dindigul sub-jail to Puzhal central prison. While the two policemen sustained injuries during the attack, Kalimuthu, who hails from Madurai, remained unharmed. Following the event, the Mangalamedu police promptly registered a case to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Latest Arrests and Judicial Proceedings

The six individuals arrested include Isakimuthu, 42, from Tuticorin; Vigneshwaran, 27, and Ahmad Amanulla, 24, from Karur; and Mani, 37, Pazhanimurugan, 29, and Muniyasamy, 27, from Madurai. After their arrest, they were produced before the Perambalur judicial magistrate court. Subsequently, they were lodged in Trichy central prison as part of the legal process.

Previous Arrest and Fatal Encounter with Prime Accused

Earlier in the investigation, the special team had arrested the key suspect, C Azhagu Raja, 30, from Madurai. However, during a weapon recovery operation on January 27, Azhagu Raja allegedly attempted to attack officers while trying to flee. In response, police shot him dead, resulting in the prime accused being eliminated from the case. This incident underscores the high-stakes nature of the investigation and the risks involved in apprehending dangerous suspects.

The arrests highlight the diligent efforts of law enforcement agencies in tackling violent crimes and ensuring justice for the injured policemen. As the case progresses, authorities continue to work on gathering evidence and building a strong legal framework to prosecute those involved in the Perambalur bomb attack.
