Son Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Father and Uncle in Delhi After Drunken Altercation
In a shocking incident in southwest Delhi's Nawada area, a 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father and uncle following a violent quarrel that erupted after they consumed alcohol together. The victims, identified as Devender Kumar (50), a storekeeper, and his brother Amit (48), were discovered dead inside their ransacked rental home, with liquor bottles scattered around the scene.
Police Investigation Reveals Details of the Tragic Incident
The investigation, led by DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh, revealed that the deaths resulted from internal injuries sustained during a physical assault, as confirmed by post-mortem reports. The altercation occurred last Friday around 11:30 PM, when the house owner, who had rented the property to Devender for Rs 9,000 per month just two weeks prior, received information about a dispute among the new tenants.
The owner decided to intervene and found the door opened by Ishwar, Devender's son, who appeared intoxicated. After reasoning with Ishwar and urging him to avoid further conflict, the owner returned home, unaware of the severity of the situation. It was later discovered that Ishwar had allegedly absconded following the incident, prompting police to register a case at the Uttam Nagar police station and identify him as the prime suspect.
Arrest and Confession Shed Light on Motive
Ishwar was arrested on Tuesday in the Mohan Garden area. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that the quarrel escalated after his father became angry with him for being unemployed. This revelation highlights the underlying tensions within the family, exacerbated by alcohol consumption and financial stress.
The police have emphasized that the case underscores the dangers of domestic disputes turning violent, especially when combined with substance abuse. Authorities are continuing their inquiry to gather more evidence and ensure justice for the deceased.
This tragic event serves as a grim reminder of the potential consequences of unresolved family conflicts and the importance of seeking help in volatile situations.
