Stray Cattle Trigger Chain Collision on Bhopal Outskirts, Heart Patient's Car Among Vehicles Damaged

A sudden appearance of stray cattle on a national highway near Bhopal led to a dramatic chain collision involving three vehicles, one of which was reportedly carrying a heart patient to a city hospital for urgent treatment. The incident occurred in the Parwalia area on the outskirts of the city, causing significant damage to the cars but, fortunately, resulting in no injuries to any occupants.

Details of the Accident and Police Action

Based on a formal complaint, Parwalia police registered a case on Sunday evening against the driver of the rear vehicle that initiated the collision. Parwalia Station House Officer (SHO) Rohit Nagar confirmed the registration of the case and stated that an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The complainant, identified as 52-year-old Anis Ansari, a resident of Biaora in Rajgarh district who runs a television repair business, filed the report along with his friend Sharik Khan. According to Ansari's account, the incident unfolded on February 14 at approximately 4:45 PM.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Collision

Ansari was traveling from Biaora to Bhopal, transporting customers' LCD televisions for repair in his vehicle, with Sharik Khan accompanying him. A car was moving ahead of his vehicle on the road.

  • About 100 meters past the Parwalia bridge, stray cattle suddenly emerged in front of the leading car.
  • The driver of the front car was forced to apply brakes abruptly to avoid hitting the animals.
  • Ansari managed to stop his vehicle in time, but a speeding car coming from behind rammed into his car.
  • The impact pushed Ansari's vehicle into the car ahead, creating a chain collision.

Ansari's car suffered major damage at both the front and rear ends. Additionally, four LCD televisions stored in the boot were damaged in the crash. The front car, which was carrying a family from Kurawar, also sustained damage. Remarkably, no one in any of the vehicles reported any injuries.

Humanitarian Gesture Amidst the Chaos

Following the collision, the occupants of the rear vehicle informed Ansari that they were rushing a heart patient to a hospital in Bhopal for critical treatment. They assured him that the damage would be compensated and then left the spot to continue their journey to the medical facility.

In a statement to the media, Anis Ansari expressed understanding of the situation, noting that the driver of the rear car was likely under considerable pressure due to the patient's serious condition. "The cattle suddenly jumped onto the national highway, which caused the accident. On humanitarian grounds, we cooperated and allowed the car carrying the patient to proceed to the hospital," he said.

Ansari further mentioned that the vehicle that hit his car belonged to an individual from Shyampur, emphasizing the urgent nature of their trip to Bhopal for the patient's medical care.

Ongoing Investigation and Broader Implications

While the immediate aftermath saw a compassionate response from those involved, the legal process is moving forward with the police case. SHO Rohit Nagar reiterated that the investigation is active, focusing on the circumstances that led to the collision.

This incident highlights the persistent issue of stray cattle on roads in the region, posing significant risks to motorists and leading to potentially dangerous situations. The event underscores the need for increased vigilance and possible measures to address such hazards on highways.
