Surat Clinic Horror: 19-Year-Old Trainee Allegedly Raped and Blackmailed by Helper

In a shocking incident from Surat, a 19-year-old woman has alleged that she was raped and blackmailed by a helper at a doctor's clinic under the Lalgate police station jurisdiction. The victim, who recently completed her Class 12 education, was employed for office work at the clinic, while the accused, 21-year-old Nevil Modi, was assigned to train her.

Allegations of Assault and Coercion

The victim reported that Modi began molesting her shortly after she started her job, which paid a salary of Rs 15,000. He allegedly professed his love for her and issued threats, including saying he would go hungry if she did not engage with him. The situation escalated when Modi took her on an outing, then brought her to the clinic where he molested her and took indecent pictures.

Over a period of ten days in March and April, Modi reportedly shut the clinic and continued to molest the victim. He used the photographs as leverage, threatening to circulate them if she spoke out about his actions. On April 4, the accused allegedly raped her at the clinic when no one else was present.

Delayed Complaint and Arrest

After the rape, the victim confided in the doctor, who informed her parents. Fearing social stigma, a compromise was reached on April 24, where Modi agreed to stop harassing her, and she refrained from filing a formal complaint. However, the victim ultimately decided to come forward, lodging a complaint on Wednesday. The Lalgate police have since arrested Nevil Modi and initiated a thorough investigation into the allegations.

Key Details:

  • The victim aspired to pursue a nursing career and sought employment at the clinic through a family acquaintance.
  • Modi's alleged actions included repeated molestation, blackmail with indecent images, and rape.
  • The case highlights issues of workplace safety and the challenges victims face in reporting such crimes due to societal pressures.

This incident underscores the urgent need for stronger protections for young employees and swift justice in cases of sexual violence.
