Late-Night Quarrel Turns Fatal in Pithampur
A horrific incident of violence unfolded in the Pithampur area of Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, where a tenant allegedly murdered his young landlord following a dispute. The crime, which took place on Wednesday night, resulted in the arrest of the accused, 33-year-old Anil Vishwakarma, a native of Satna.
Details of the Gruesome Attack
The incident occurred near Hotel Paradise on the Mhow–Neemuch road. The victim, 23-year-old Akshay, lived with his family in a three-storey house where he also ran a grocery shop on the ground floor. Anil Vishwakarma, who works at a factory in Pithampur, was renting a room on the building's second floor.
According to police investigators, a quarrel erupted between the two around 11 pm. The argument, which reportedly stemmed from frequent tensions over the tenant drinking in the room and inviting friends over, escalated rapidly. During the confrontation, Anil is accused of attacking Akshay with a knife and slashing his throat.
In a brutal turn, the injured landlord was then allegedly dragged to the gallery and thrown down from the second floor. Akshay's younger brother witnessed the assault and tried to intervene, leading to a physical scuffle with the accused.
Arrest and Aftermath
The family immediately rushed Akshay to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Police, led by Station in-charge Omprakash Ahir, swiftly responded to the scene. They recovered a blood-stained knife from the spot and launched a search operation.
The accused, Anil Vishwakarma, was traced and arrested shortly after. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the crime and cited the ongoing disputes as the motive. Police revealed that Anil is married, though his wife does not live with him, and some of his siblings reside in the Mhow area.
The tragedy has left the family and community in shock. Akshay had recently become engaged, and his wedding was scheduled for April 2026, with preparations already underway. The police have registered a case of murder, and further investigation is ongoing.
