Three Injured in Firing Over Sand Commission in Patna

Patna: Three individuals, including a 12-year-old girl, sustained severe injuries in a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday morning in Chainpur village, located in Khusrupur, Patna district. The clash erupted between two groups over a dispute related to commission on sand and gravel supply. Over ten rounds were fired during the confrontation.

Police Response and Medical Aid

Upon receiving information, police from Khusrupur station arrived at the scene. The injured were initially taken to Khusrupur primary health centre and later referred to Patna for advanced medical care due to their critical condition.

Victims Identified

The injured have been identified as 12-year-old Neha Kumari, daughter of Vikas Kumar; 50-year-old Sona Devi, wife of Arun Singh; and 26-year-old Deepak Kumar, son of Ravindra Prasad. Sona was shot in the leg, Deepak in the stomach, and Neha also suffered serious bullet injuries.

Background of the Incident

According to villagers, a disagreement over commission in the sand and gravel trade suddenly escalated into violence. The sound of gunfire caused panic, prompting residents to rush indoors for safety.

Ongoing Investigation

Khusrupur SHO Sanjeev Kumar is currently stationed in the village with a police force. He stated, 'A search operation is underway to identify and arrest those involved in the firing. The injured are being treated at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) and are out of danger. Heavy police deployment has been made to maintain law and order in the village. The victims have alleged that the firing occurred due to demand of commission in sand and gravel trading. Further investigation is underway.'
