Tragic Road Accidents in Udham Singh Nagar Claim Three Lives, Woman Critically Injured
Two separate and devastating road accidents occurred in Udham Singh Nagar district on Wednesday evening, resulting in the tragic deaths of three young men and leaving a 22-year-old woman fighting for her life. The incidents have cast a shadow over the region, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety.
First Accident: Motorcycle Crashes into Highway Divider Near Rudrapur
In the first incident, a motorcycle carrying two riders collided with a divider on the Kashipur highway near Bagwala village in Rudrapur. The victims, identified as Ajay Pal (25) of Purana Kheda Basti and Roli (20) of Shanti Colony, Bhadaipura, were returning from Gadarpur when their bike suddenly went out of control.
Both individuals were violently thrown onto the road, sustaining severe and fatal injuries. They were rushed to the district hospital, where medical professionals declared them brought dead upon arrival. Ajay Pal was employed at a company based in Sidcul, adding a layer of personal tragedy to the loss.
Local police have initiated inquest proceedings and sent the bodies for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is focusing on factors that may have contributed to the loss of control, such as road conditions, vehicle malfunction, or driver error.
Second Accident: Container Truck Collides with Motorcycle Near Pantnagar
In a separate and equally tragic event around 8 pm, a container truck struck a motorcycle near the Tanda flyover at the Matkota-Dineshpur turn in Pantnagar. The motorcycle was carrying siblings Naveen Fulara (27) and Prema Fulara (22), residents of Haldhuchaur.
Both suffered serious injuries in the collision and were immediately shifted to the district hospital. Due to the severity of their conditions, they were later referred to a private hospital in Haldwani for advanced medical care. Tragically, Naveen Fulara succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while his sister Prema remains under intensive treatment, her condition described as critical.
Police Investigation Underway
Pantnagar Station House Officer Nandan Singh Rawat confirmed that the injured were promptly transported to medical facilities. He stated that a thorough investigation is currently underway to ascertain the precise circumstances leading to both accidents. Authorities are examining all possible angles, including driver negligence, vehicle speed, road infrastructure issues, and environmental factors.
These back-to-back accidents have sparked renewed calls for enhanced road safety measures in Udham Singh Nagar district. Community leaders and residents are urging authorities to implement stricter traffic regulations and improve highway maintenance to prevent such tragedies in the future.
