Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Three Lives in Hyderabad's Gandipet Lake
In a heartbreaking incident, three young men who went missing while swimming in Gandipet lake in Hyderabad on Sunday were discovered drowned on Monday. The victims have been identified as Govardhan Prasad (26), Karthik (19), and Venkatesh (19), all residents of Ibrahim Bagh.
Police Investigation and Initial Complaint
According to GV Raman Goud, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Narsingi, a formal complaint was lodged at the Narsingi police station around 1 am on the intervening night of March 15-16. The complaint was filed by Derangula Sukanya, the wife of Govardhan Prasad and sister of Karthik. In her statement, she reported that her husband, younger brother, and their relative had left for Gandipet lake at approximately 1 pm on March 15 but failed to return home, prompting immediate concern.
Search Operation and Recovery of Bodies
Based on the complaint, police authorities promptly registered a missing persons case and initiated an extensive search operation. Police teams conducted thorough searches in and around the lake area, focusing on the water body and its surroundings. The bodies of the three men were later found floating in the lake and were carefully retrieved by the rescue teams. The victims were then shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, as per standard investigative procedures.
