Three Minors Apprehended for Brutal Rape of 6-Year-Old Girl in Delhi's Bhajanpura

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the capital, three minors have been apprehended by the Delhi Police for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in the Bhajanpura area of northeast Delhi. The accused, aged 13, 14, and 15 years, were taken into custody following a complaint filed by the victim's family, with the assault reported to have occurred on January 18.

Details of the Assault and Investigation

According to police statements and family accounts, the three boys lured the young girl by offering her chowmein, taking advantage of her innocence. They then allegedly took her to the terrace of a nearby empty two-story building, where the brutal assault took place. The victim's mother recounted the harrowing details, stating that her daughter returned home covered in blood and in extreme distress.

"She came home covered in blood. When I asked her, she first said she had fallen, but there were no injuries on any other part of her body. On questioning further, she told me what had been done to her," the mother was quoted as saying by PTI.

Medical Condition and Police Response

The girl was immediately taken for medical examination at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where doctors noted she was "unable to walk" and bleeding heavily. Medical reports advised tests for HIV and other conditions, highlighting the severity of the assault. The victim is now stable and recovering at home, though she remains bedridden with pain when attempting to sit or walk.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Ashish Mishra confirmed the incident and stated that legal action has been initiated under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police have recorded the girl's statement and are following proper legal procedures for cases involving minors.

Family's Anguish and Demand for Justice

The victim's family, which includes her parents and three siblings, expressed profound shock and anger over the incident. The mother identified one of the accused as a 13-year-old neighbour and the other two as friends of her late son, who passed away last year due to illness.

"My 14-year-old son died last year due to an illness. These boys were his friends and they used to play together. It's shocking what they did to my daughter," she told Hindustan Times.

The girl's father, who works as a rickshaw puller, has demanded that the accused be tried as adults, arguing that they understood the gravity of their actions. "If they knew what they were doing, they should not be released because they are children. They should be given strict punishment," he said, adding that he has not returned to work out of fear for his daughters' safety.

Community Reaction and Ongoing Probe

The incident has sparked outrage in the Bhajanpura locality, with the mother of one of the accused reportedly handing her son over to the police after witnessing the victim's condition. During the investigation, bloodstains were found on the terrace where the assault allegedly occurred, corroborating the family's claims.

Authorities are continuing their probe into the case, ensuring that the victim receives necessary care and counselling. The case underscores the urgent need for stronger child protection measures and swift justice in such heinous crimes.
